Dr. Alexandre Assi was elected Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists in 1995 and was awarded the Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training by the United Kingdom highest training authority in 2001. He is currently registered with the General Medical Council in London as a fully accredited Specialist Eye Surgeon with a licence to practise in the UK and Europe.

During his residency and ensuing higher surgical training at the leading Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, Dr. Assi gained extensive experience in all aspects of clinical and surgical ophthalmology. He then completed three years of advanced sub-specialist training in the medical and surgical management of complex retinal disorders.

Dr. Assi has built an international reputation as a highly skilled eye surgeon and a leading authority in the field of intraocular and laser eye surgery for which he has received numerous academic honours and awards. He has been elected member of the exclusive Club Jules Gonin that gathers the most eminent and accomplished retina specialists in the world. He has authored and co-authored many publications in medical journals and is a reviewer on the editorial board of the journal International Ophthalmology.

Dr. Assi is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the European Society of Retina Specialists and is an examination coordinator for the International Council of Ophthalmology. He also regularly attends and actively contributes to advanced ophthalmic courses and worldwide scientific meetings.
